This past 19th of July was a great night. It was one of those evenings where everything works, marked, of course, by euphoria and excitement. It was not a night for the weak or apathetic.
The beginning couldn’t have been sexier, with Rachel performing “Queer”. It was a brilliant way to start the Anti-Karaokean ceremony.
The great star of the night, without a doubt, was Rocko with the most explosive “Back In Black” we’ve heard in a long, long time which ended with some unexpected crowd surfing. Enormous. The pure essence of Anti-Karaoke condensed into just one performance.
Maggie Simpson offered a very powerful “Highway to Hell” and had the crowd in her pocket without a problem.
A great version of Alanis Morissette’s “Ironic” provided by one of the new stars of the show, the adorable Powerpuff Ale.
Thais & Jen sang an entertaining version of The Offspring’s “Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)”.
Elvis Rockadillo, who we’ve seen at least once before at the show, provided a great performance of Buckcherry’s “Lit Up”.
Los Sospechosos made the whole club dance with a totally dizzy “Jump Around”.
Pitufi & Kenta brought us back to the days of the legendary New York Studio 54 with an entertaining “Disco Inferno”.
Oscarzombie spit out hell’s fury with a powerful “Hard Rock Hallelujah”.
Los Paudios opened their hearts with a dramatic “Total Eclipse of the Heart”.
Dani Metal’s “Enter Sandman” was devastating, in one of the most massive performances of the show.
In the first half of the night, Rachel rapped hard with Public Enemy’s “Fight the Power”.
La Marchosa debuted at A.K. with The Vapors’ “Turning Japanese”.
If we had to chose the most emotional and tear-jerking performance of the night, it would be Barbarah, without a doubt, thanks to her incredibly beautiful “Hurt”.
Lord Vader debuted “Thunderball” and showed the crowed his crooner side.
In a completely different register, Blimnda performed one of the sleaziest songs in the A.K. repertoire, Buckcherry’s “Crazy Bitch”.
The audience in the first few rows received the classic rain of Jack Daniels while Rachel performed “New York, New York”.
Los What The Fuck? debuted at Anti-Karaoke with Bon Jovi’s “Living On a Prayer”.
Ennio From Rome delighted the crowd with his characteristic stage charisma and magnetism with a fun version of Madonna’s “Like a Prayer”.
Samurai Xavi paid tribute to the dearly departed Ronnie James Dio with his greatest hit “Holy Diver”.
Jen brought back Weezer’s great hit, “Buddy Holly” and of course the whole club sang along.
Minka debuted with Gossip’s “Standing in the Way of Control”.
Another newcomer, Rollercoaster, offered a very passionate “My Way”.
Just past midnight, when the show was already at its high point, Rachel performed a tremendously intense version of Foo Fighters “The Pretender”.
Mr. Eddie Harris had the lovely idea to remember the missed Shannon Hoon with Blind Melon’s 90’s hit “No Rain”.
Pirata del Caribe brought a good dose of metal fury with Pantera’s “Cowboys From Hell”.
Continuing with Metal, Lion King sang Metallica’s “Master of Puppets”.
And more Metal, in this case totally old school, Iván brought back Iron Maiden’s “Run to the Hills”.
Prades revived one of Van Halen’s finest, with David Lee Roth, with one of their greatest 80’s hits, “Panama” from the album “1984”.
Madskoti offered an extraordinary interpretation of “Purple Rain” and received one of the biggest ovations of the evening.
Xavi Dimoni sang one of the anthems of the Grunge era, Nirvana’s “Lithium” with crowd surfing included.
El Artista Anteriormente Conocido Como Enrique sang one of the most current songs in the A.K. repertoire, “I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor”.
Solo brought romanticism and emotion with a beautiful “Nothing Compares To You” by Sinead O’Connor.
The show was arriving at the final stretch when “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” by the Stones played and the megaphone announced: “Ladies and gentlemen… Kurt Cobain”.

Rachel appeared on stage dressed as Nirvana’s ill-fated front man. Next Kurt/Rachel commented on the benefits of being dead: “I have Michael Jackson with me…and you have Lady Gaga”, and hit us with a killer “Smells Like Teen Spirit”.
The final catharsis arrived with “Killing in the Name” provided by Fabri and his army of loyal subjects.
And “Kids in America” put the finishing touch on another great rock evening. See you Monday at Anti-Karaoke! Remember that the show continues in Barcelona every Monday this summer. The doors open at 21.30h.
